Cultuur Krakers returns with a new edition. A creative program for young people aged 18 to 30 from the Amsterdam region who want to contribute ideas about how museums can become more relevant, accessible and engaging for younger audiences.
Museums hold powerful stories, but not every young person feels represented or addressed by the way these stories are told today. Cultuur Krakers starts from that question. How can museums connect better with a new generation, without losing their core values.
From insight to concept
During the program, participants dive into the cultural sector from the inside. Through workshops and sessions with professionals, they explore how museums are structured, how decisions are made, how funding works and how themes like diversity, inclusion and audience engagement play a role in daily practice.
Based on these insights, participants work together on concrete concepts aimed at change. They learn how to develop an idea that fits within a museum context and how to pitch it in a way that is both creative and realistic.
Learning by doing
Cultuur Krakers is strongly rooted in practice. In previous editions, participants pitched their concepts at museums such as H'ART Museum and Museum Van Loon. During Museumnacht Amsterdam, one of these ideas was tested as a pilot at the verzetsmuseum, where the group presented Resistance Lab: an interactive concept inviting young people to reflect on what resistance means today.
These moments are not endpoints, biut part of a larger process of learning, testing, and refining ideas in real museum settings.
You can read more about these outcomes in our blog on the Museumnacht pilot and in our A Year in Motion overview, where the final presentations at H'ART Museum and Museum Van Loon are also featured.
A space for new voices
Cultuur Krakers brings together curious, motivated young people with different backgrounds and interests. Whether you are drawn to culture, design, social change or strategy, the program offers a space to explore your ideas and make them concrete.
Participation is free and open to young people aged 18 to 30 from the Amsterdam region.
