Cultuur Krakers - Resistance Lab at the Verzetsmuseum

During Museumnacht Amsterdam, the group from the spring edition of Cultuur Krakers presented the first pilot of Resistance Lab at the Verzetsmuseum (Dutch Resistance Museum).

Cultuur Krakers is a twelve-week program in which young creatives work together with museums to explore how culture can become more accessible and relevant to new generations. For this edition, participants focused on the Verzetsmuseum, developing a concept aimed at engaging young people (aged 18 to 30) with the museum’s stories and values.

Through workshops with professionals, they explored how museums engage audiences, secure funding, embrace diversity and inclusion, and develop concepts that align with their overall vision. From these sessions and brainstorms, the idea for Resistance Lab took shape. After pitching it to the museum, the group was invited to test their concept during Museumnacht Amsterdam.

Resistance Lab invites young people to explore what resistance means today and to engage with the museum through dialogue and creativity. Visitors joined the Cultuur Krakers for conversations and interactive sessions that brought the museum’s themes to life in a fresh, engaging way. A large canvas stood at the centre of the space, inviting visitors to draw, write and share their thoughts, creating a collective artwork that captured diverse ideas about freedom and resistance.

The pilot took place alongside Amnesty’s Write for Rights, adding another layer to the dialogue between creativity, activism and social awareness.

This collaboration with the Verzetsmuseum showed how Cultuur Krakers can help museums connect with a new generation of visitors, turning cultural spaces into places of reflection, exchange and imagination.

A big thank you to the Verzetsmuseum team for their trust and collaboration, and to all participants for their openness, ideas and creativity in bringing Resistance Lab to life.
