Closing another edition of Film School at Pathé Noord

After months of writing, filming and editing, this edition of Film School came to a close with the premiere of five original short films at Pathé Noord.

Throughout the program, participants worked in groups to develop their films from start to finish. What began with first ideas and scripts gradually moved into production, with participants taking on different roles behind and in front of the camera.

Together with Topkapi Films and Open Studio, participants got an inside look at different parts of the filmmaking process. Through workshops, production meetings and practical sessions, they learned about directing, cinematography, sound, production and editing, while putting that knowledge directly into practice in their own films.

The process continued long after the shoot days. During post production, the groups worked on their rough cuts, shared feedback and returned to the edit to bring the final versions of their films together.

This week, all that work made its way to the big screen.

Friends, family, partners and everyone involved in the program came together at Pathé Noord to watch the five films in a cinema setting. Each film was created by its own group, resulting in five different stories and approaches to filmmaking.

For many participants, it was the first time seeing something they had created shown on a cinema screen. It marked the end of a process in which they not only learned about filmmaking, but experienced what it takes to create a film together, from the first conversation around an idea to sharing the finished work with an audience.

A great way to close this edition of Film School and celebrate the work of all the participants and everyone who contributed along the way.
