Vincent Goes North at Vincent op Vrijdag

During last weeks edition of Vincent op Vrijdag, participants from Vincent Goes North presented their work at the Van Gogh Museum.

Vincent op Vrijdag is a recurring evening program at the museum, where art, dialogue and performance come together in an open and accessible setting. It offers space for new perspectives and contemporary voices within the context of Van Gogh’s work.

As part of the evening, participants shared their final works: photographs and poems developed throughout the program. Each participant presented their work alongside personal objects, materials or visual elements that reflected the story behind their image. By placing their work in context, they invited visitors into the thoughts, emotions and experiences that shaped their creative process.

Over the past months, the group worked through workshops in photography and storytelling, guided by Wessel de Groot, Gershwin Bonevacia and Eddy van der Laan. They explored how personal experiences can be translated into visual language, connecting themes such as identity, resilience and belonging to the legacy of Vincent van Gogh.

Vincent Goes North is organized in collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum. Presenting the works during Vincent op Vrijdag marked another meaningful moment in this ongoing partnership, bringing young makers and museum audiences together.

We would like to thank the Van Gogh Museum for their collaboration and support throughout this edition, and of course the participants for sharing their work with openness and confidence.
