Last week marked the final chapter of a new edition of Vincent Goes North.
Participants came together for a special walk through Amsterdam with JCDecaux, experiencing their final works displayed across the city. Earlier that week, they also presented their work during Vincent op Vrijdag at the Van Gogh Museum, sharing the stories behind their photographs and poems with museum visitors.
As part of the program, each participant developed one photographic work and one accompanying poem, inspired by their personal story and the life and work of Vincent van Gogh. After months of workshops, creative sessions and experimentation, these works were presented both in the museum and in public space.
Seeing the results displayed throughout Amsterdam and presented at the Van Gogh Museum marked an important closing moment for this edition of Vincent Goes North.
Throughout the program, participants explored how personal experiences can be translated into visual language through photography and writing. Guided by photographer Wessel de Groot and scenographer Eddy van der Laan, they worked on shaping their own artistic voice and developing work that reflects themes such as identity, resilience and perspective.
During Vincent op Vrijdag, participants shared their photographs and poems with visitors, inviting them into the thoughts, emotions and experiences that shaped their creative process. The event formed a meaningful opportunity to present the work within the context of the Van Gogh Museum.
The poems connected to each image are now available to listen to on Spotify, allowing audiences to hear the stories behind the works in the voices of the participants themselves.
We would like to thank Wessel de Groot and Eddy van der Laan for their guidance throughout the workshops, and extend our gratitude to JCDecaux and the Van Gogh Museum for making this collaboration possible.
