Film School returns this September with a new edition for young people from the Amsterdam region who want to discover filmmaking by making their own short film.
Over the course of twelve weeks, participants work together through every stage of the filmmaking process. Starting with an idea, they develop a script, prepare a production, shoot on location and complete their films in post-production before presenting them during a public premiere.
Throughout the program, participants learn directly from professionals working in the Dutch film industry. Workshops focus on directing, cinematography, sound, production and editing, while production meetings and shoot days offer hands-on experience in a professional filmmaking environment.
Film School is organized in collaboration with Topkapi and Open Studio. Through this partnership, participants work with professional equipment, gain insight into the film industry and learn from people actively working in the field.
Whether you’re considering a future in film or simply want to explore visual storytelling, Film School offers a place to experiment, collaborate and develop practical skills through making.
Participation is free.
The new edition starts in the week of 7 September and takes place weekly in Amsterdam.
